I loved the color combo that I used to paint "Suits Me to Swim" so I used them again. Meet lovely "Purdy", sweet soft eyed gorgeously colored horse cantering towards the viewer.
Painted with acrylics on a 24"x 18"x 1 1/2" gallery wrap canvas. For my upcoming show.

Had a very busy week painting props for Christmas shows for the event company I work for part time, was so exhausted Friday night I was pooped. Decided to try and tackle a large painting last night but that was over 3 hours that I ended up scraping. If it doesn't happen, might as well wipe the slate clean and start anew! Instead I varnished a few that needed it. On a good note, "Zorse" will have a new home this week!
For your viewing pleasure this is "The Fire Within" which was the precursor to "The Spark Within" which is very similar but simpler and smaller, fire is on a gallery wrap and will be in my upcoming Spring solo show. Enjoy!

Before I painted "Mercury", I painted this smaller and similar to the fire within painting called "The Spark Within" with acrylic on a 12"x 12" canvas. I love this particular pose, it has such good lines and is a joy to paint. $150.00 + s&h.

I had a very emotional weekend. I lost two horses, both loved. One was sold and went to a great new home- a happy ending despite my sadness that she is now gone. The other was by death, we lost our 28 year old BLM mustang Mercury. He was a very special horse, smart, kind, self assured, a good leader, fun ride for anyone, charismatic and personable. His death was tragic, but he had someone there right to the end.  I've done this celestial piece to honor him, may he have his winged fleet hooves once again like the Greek God he was named after, and I called it simply "Mercury". It's acrylic on a 12"x12"x1.5" gallery wrap canvas and will be for sale at my Spring Sweet Earth Studio solo show.

Zorse

I liked the "mosaic" look I recently did so much I tried it again and came up with "Zorse" representing the crossing of a horse with a zebra. And used some of my favorite colors too. This is 16"x 20" on canvas done with acrylics. $250.00 + s&h. This is available immediately. "Zorse" is on it's way to a new home!

Slept in today, feeling quite refreshed, I have 3 canvases near to or ready for painting, will get one worked on, thinking of doing the one that is not for my show, but for immediate consideration. In the meantime I have much to do around the place. Will post photos as I have them. This painting here is "Alive Inside" which is for the gallery show.

Building a gallery show portfolio

Though my solo show was postponed until sometime this Spring, I am still working on creating to add to the pieces for display. I find it very rewarding personally to have the excitement supercharging the creative urge, pushing myself to grow. This is my newest using my style yet not like I usually approach the painting, instead of loose definition, I used the lines as a guide for color blocking. I am very pleased with it, and will try this again. Called "Jewel", it's acrylic on a gallery wrap 20"x16"x1.5" canvas.
