A wintery day inspired a nostalgic type painting- of Swirling Spiraling Snow. 

This lovely paso fino looks over to the side during a gentle but very cold snow storm, the horse stands covered with flakes on it's body, head and hair, yet is content in the elements. A vaporous steam curls from delicate nostrils into the frosty air. Even though I love the warm weather, I do love snow- I love it's stark beauty, the freshness, stillness and the peace it radiates. Big flakes falling and collecting on surfaces was something I loved to be out in, and this painting makes me think of those times with nostalgia for my growing up and early adult years in Upstate New York. Snow like this is a rarity in Oklahoma where I reside at the time this painting was created.

"A Pair of Scissors"

I decided to have some fun doing my signature line technique on representing the Oklahoma State Bird, flycatcher scissortails. I used contrasting blues and oranges to give it vibrancy, a feeling of soaring energy, and for a indication of the coming Fall. This was an exciting and rewarding painting for me to accomplish. Done on a 12"x 36"x 1.5" gallery wrap canvas in acrylics. It will be shown in the 2013 OKC State Fair arts competition, then afterwards will be hanging for sale at the Shawnee, Ok Sweet Earth Studio Mingle Gallery. Here is the mate to the bluebonnet colt painting "It's a Boy!", this one captures the innocence of a darling, sweet golden palomino filly curiously investigating the pink daisies and bright red poppies in her new Springtime world. "The Heat is On"

Ever feel like so much in in the works or currently happening that you feel the building up is ready to explode with the heat in the pressure cooker! Not necessarily a bad thing, inspiration can come from the heightened sense of urgency. But sometimes it does feel as if you can't escape the pressure. I pray for us that the search for shade, rest, and easing of the stresses in life comes easier. This original acrylic painting expresses that feeling of relentless  heat and pressure we all feel at one time or another.
